Progress has been made on the proposed Mathilda Avenue Improvements Project. Now the public has an opportunity to provide valuable input.
August 12, begins the 45-day review period of the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) completed by lead agency, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in partnership with VTA.
Anyone who has driven the Mathilda interchange at State Route 237 and U.S. 101 knows that the congestion and delay have worsened over the years. Improvements to this area are warranted and would be consistent with Sunnyvale’s General Plan.
A public meeting and open house will be held to receive input on the Draft EIR on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Columbia Middle School (Multi-Purpose Room, 739 Morse Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94085). A brief presentation on the project will be given, followed by a public comment period. The meeting facility is accessible to persons with disabilities. Persons requesting special accommodations should contact VTA Community Outreach no later than three days before the meeting.
You can read or obtain a hardcopy of the Draft EIR at the Caltrans District 4 office or at VTA’s Administrative Office on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hard copies will also be available at the Sunnyvale Public Library (all addresses are listed below). A digital copy of the report is also available online at http://www.vta.org/mathildaimprovements.
Please feel free to submit your written comments to VTA Environmental Programs and Resources Management; Attn: Lani Ho, 3331 North First Street, Bldg. B-2, San Jose, CA 95134-1927 or via email to MathildaAve@vta.org. The deadline for receiving comments on the Draft EIR is Monday, September 26, 2016, by 5 p.m.
