The Moffett Park Business Group mission is to promote the sustainability and economic health of the Moffett Park community through mutual cooperation and advocacy. To meet our mission, we have identified strategic targets to focus our efforts on.   One such key matter is transportation. Our stated transportation goal is to expand the reach, modes, interconnectivity and quality of our transportation system.

Proposition 6, Voter Approval for Future Gas and Vehicle Taxes and 2017 Tax Repeal Initiative, is in direct opposition of the goal we have established for our strategic target -transportation. Prop 6 not only aims to repeal the recently increased gas tax, it takes a far-reaching purpose to change the California constitution to require voter approval (via ballot propositions) for the California State Legislature to impose, increase, or extend fuel taxes or vehicle fees in the future. If the gas tax, otherwise known as SB 1, Road Repair and Accountability Act, is repealed many of the road improvements and projects that would benefit the us and the region will be delayed or not done.  We have already seen work done with SB1 money; slurry seal of local roads and funding of an important capital project, the Mathilda Ave/ US 101/SR237 intersection.

As a result, the MPBG has taken the stance of no support for Proposition 6. Therefore, No on Prop 6! (https://noprop6.com/)
